The Adaskin String Trio is renowned for it's compelling programming featuring an exciting mix of familiar and more adventurous musical styles. They also perform thrilling collaborative programs, especially with long time guests, pianist Sally Pinkas and/or oboist Thomas Gallant. Info and sample programs below.
Hailed for commanding interpretations of well known string trio masterpieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Dohnanyi, & Schnittke, the trio also loves introducing audiences to rarely heard musical gems by composers such as Berkeley, Cowell, Cras, Françaix, Herzogenberg, Klein, Kodály, Martinu, Reger, Röntgen, Rozsa, Sibelius, Taneiev, and Villa-Lobos. Their repertoire includes transcriptions of Haydn’s charming trios originally for baryton, viola & cello, Mozart’s transcriptions of Preludes and Fugues by Bach, Bach’s monumental Goldberg Variations transcribed for trio (complete or selected variations), and new crossover transcriptions by composers such as Paul Simon or Chick Corea. In addition, the trio has premiered and recorded exciting new music by composers such as Murray Adaskin, Robert Carl and David Macbride.
For over fifteen years the trio has developed a special musical and personal relationship with renowned pianist and Dartmouth Artist-in-Residence Sally Pinkas for numerous breathtaking performances of piano quartets by Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Dvorak, Saint-Saëns, Faure, Bridge, Turina, and Martinu.
